Places Of Interest
Vidana Soudha: Built in 1954, Vidana Soudha is a classic example of neo-Dravidian architecture. This magnificent structure is home to the Legislative Chambers of the Karanataka Assembly With each of its corners featuring a massive dome, it represents grandeur and power.
Lalbagh: It would be quite unfair if someone does not introduce the Garden city to you by quoting the royal Lal Bagh. Commissioned by Hyder Ali in 1760, the botanical garden is a home to over 1000 species of flora. The garden also constitutes a diamond shaped Glass House amongst other artistic structures. The garden has also provided a boost to various horticultural practices.
Bengaluru Palace: The construction of the palace was initiated by the first principal of the Central High School, Rev. Garrett in 1862. Although the construction only ended in 1944, the palace was bought by the Maharaja of Mysore in 1884. It is currently owned by the royal family of Mysore. Though palace grounds have been used for various functions and events, the greatest one was obviously the rock band Metallica's performance here in 2011.
ISKCON Temple: The northern part of the city is blessed by the spiritual powers of Radha-Krishna. Inaugurated by the then president of India Shankar Dayal Sharma, the huge complex of the ISKCON is situated on the top of Hare- Krishna Hill. The complex constitutes six other shrines. Various Hindu festivals are celebrated round the year with great zeal.
Ulsoor: The founder of Bengaluru, Kempe Gowda I, got the village as a gift from the Vijaynagar emperors in the 16th century. The Ulsoor lake was constructed by the successor of Gowda and is the only surviving tank built in those times. The city also served as the first military station in 1807.
Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace: The best example of the Indo-Islamic architecture is the Mysore Tiger's Summer Palace. The construction which was commenced by his father, Hyder Ali, got completed in 1791 during Tipu's reign. The complete structure is built of teak and currently being maintained by the Karnataka government. The main attraction at the site is the museum on the ground floor. It has the memento collection of Hyder Ali and Tipu's achievements and their administration.

Air
The 'HAL Airport' situated on Airport Road is the international airport. With an influx of over 70 international and domestic flights every day, this airport is divided into three terminals. Terminal I and II for domestic carriers and Terminal III for international flights.
Road
Getting to Bangalore via roads is a breeze. The distance from Badami to Bangalore is approximately 510kms whereas from Hampi to Bangalore is 350kms. The Bandipur National Park en route Mysore is approximately 220kms. Bangalore can also be reached by road from the nearby tourist destinations like Goa
Rail
The Bangalore Railway Station and the Yeshvantpur Railway Station are the two major train stations connecting Bangalore to pretty much every part of India. Keep in mind that Yeshvantpur Railway Station is a good 30-40 minute drive away from Bangalore, hence a cab drive is in order.
Best Time To Visit
Bangalore is pleasant throughout the year which makes visiting it any time a good experience. Still, the best time to visit is from September to February. This period sees the lowest temperatures and also is the time for various festivals and celebrations.
