Places Of Interest
Colva Beach, South Goa: A beach which is preferred by the crowd that loves to enjoy the pristine white sand. The crowd on this beach iscosmopolitan, the ambiance is terrific with lip-smacking food. If you want to find some solace then hop to Benaulim Beach which is minutes away. Colva Beach is a perfect beach to sunbathe, take a stroll or sit silently reading a book. It is one of the cleanest beaches of Goa.
Arambol Beach, North Goa: Another beach where routine activities are available. But what makes this beach interesting are the attractions like meditation, yoga, Tai Chi and Reiki. A fishing village is another tourist attraction. The highlight of nightlife on this beach is jam-in session and live music.
Baga Beach, North Goa: It is one of the most popular beach and offers plenitude of activities to enjoy. From Parasailing to banana boat ride to dolphin spotting one can have the most amazing and playful time here.
Bat Island: Also known as The Pequeno Island, it is ideal for adventure seekers. Snorkelling is one of the water sports you can indulge in. This beach is about a kilometre away from Baina Beach of Vasco-Da-Gama.
Divar Island: It is a lesser known place huddled away across the Mandovi River. Drive to this beach is fraught with pictorial paddy hills and woody hillocks. It is enlivened during the Bonderam festival held during monsoon. This place has a feel of quaint countryside Goa.
Bom Jesus Basilica: It is one of the must visit places in Goa. This church was consecrated in 1605 and is held as a very pious place by Christians as the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier are preserved here. This church is recognised as UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the finest representation of Baroque architecture.
Cabo de Rama Fort: This famous fort is in Canacona, formed before the arrival of British. It is believed that it is the same fort where Lord Rama with his consort Goddess Sita and brother Lord Laxman soughtrefuge when they were exiled from Ayodhya. As you reach the top you will be welcomed with breath-taking view of crystal water fringed by sandy charms and arching palm grooves. There is a church of Santo Antonio, inside the fort, where devotes still come to pay their obeisance.
Lamgau Caves: These fascinating caves are tucked away in Bicholim and are around 35 kms away from north-east Panaji. The caverns are etched out of decomposed laterite and are hence delicate. This place is an important place for educational and cultural purposes.
Mollem National Park: It is also called BhagwanMahavir Wildlife Sanctuary and is spread across 240 sq. km. Bio-diversity, ancient temples, rare species of bird and reptiles are the attractions of this national park. It is situated about 60 kms from Panaji.
Curlies: The famous beach shack on Anjuna Beach, it is also a landmark, a place where one can buy drinks, enjoy the ambience and unwind from the long day of fun and adventure. On special occasions you have renowned DJs playing their tracks and crowd dancing on their tunes.
Air
Goa International Airport, is a civil enclave at INS Hansa, a Naval airfield located at Dabolim near Vasco da Gama.
Road
Goa has four National Highways passing through it. NH-66 (ex NH-17) runs along India's west coast and links Goa to Mumbai in the north and Mangalore to the south.
Rail
Goa has two rail lines — one run by the South Western Railway and the other by the Konkan Railway.
The weather in Goa is moderate. Bordered by the Arabian Sea on the West, it experiences hot and humid weather throughout the year. Although the climate is hot and humid the one good thing about the state is that the temperature in Goa is always under control. Neither do the summers get very hot nor do the winters get extremely cold.
